Ramie, commonly known as China grass, is a flowering plant of the nettle family, similar to linen. It is natural white in color, has a silky luster and an unusual resistance to bacteria and molds. Ramie is usually blended with other textile fibres, it is extremely absorbent and dries quickly. Ramie has been tested to be fi ve times stronger than cotton and twice as strong as fl ax. It is an expensive fiber.
